What is Shockwave Therapy?

Focused Shockwave Therapy involves using a medical device to pass high-frequency acoustic pulses through the affected area, breaking down fatty plaques, increasing blood flow and stimulating natural repair processes.

It is a non-invasive procedure that treats the causes of erectile dysfunction in penile tissue by increasing blood flow, forming new blood vessels, and breaking down micro-plaques in the penis.

Typically patients will notice some change within a few weeks of starting treatment, but with the most significant changes occurring after 6 – 8 weeks, and if you address the underlying causes of your ED, such as high blood pressure or excess weight, then the results can be permanent.

Benoy qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998 and has worked extensively in hospital, private practice and sporting settings within the UK, Asia and the Middle East. Having specialised in musculoskeletal care, he works in private practice and as Advanced Physiotherapist for the NHS. He is also a trained musculoskeletal sonographer and uses it regularly with his patients. He has a 25-year background of treating MSK disorders both in the NHS and Private Practice and has been using shockwave therapy since 2012.

Benoy is highly experienced with focused shockwave therapy and is a UK lead Shockwave Educator providing courses for physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, chiropractors, sports therapists and GP’s.

Ben has developed a special interest in treating chronic hip and groin patients. His interest in patients with chronic groin and pelvic pain has led him into Shockwave Therapy for men’s sexual health problems. He successfully treats a wide array of both MSK and men’s health conditions on a daily basis and is passionate about finding drug-free and non-invasive ways to improve his patients’ health.
